The first level of Girl Scouts is a Daisy! From Kindergarten through 1st grade, girls are introduced to the wonderful world of Girl Scouting!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • binder w/ loose leaf
  • internet access
  • Daisy Handbook
  1. Step 1

Since girls are new to scouting in this level - they really need guidance and support from the leader. Daisy Girl Scouts earn their petals, but there are only 10 to earn in 2 years - so plan accordingly.

  2. Step 2

Stick to the basics! Teach the Girl Scout Promise. Not only will they need to know it before bridging to Brownies, but it is important to know - period. Talk about the Girl Scout Law. Important life lessons to live by. Encourage friendship, sisterhood, helpfulness, courage, honesty, and responsibility. (characteristics taken from the Law)

Use online resources to find activities to use in your meetings. Go to your community leader meetings and gather ideas from leaders of older troops. Incorporate songs at the end of your meeting to help bring the meeting to a close. Have plenty of fun so the girls will want to join year after year!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep meetings short
  • Plan fun and engaging activities
  • Learn the Girl Scout Promise
