Betting on poker is an art indeed, as stated in the first two articles it make you or break in one hand, (no joke), if you have ever experienced going from $2000.00 to $10.00 dollars in a few weeks and think it was amazing, poker can send you from $100.00 to a $1,000,000.00, or the exact opposite in one hand, Poker is not a game that requires a player to be a millionaire, you can play for millions or play for dimes.

Things You'll Need:

  • good strategy
  • no emotions
  • obeservation
  • a little cash
  1. Step 1

Small betting should be done when you have virtually nothing, this will range any where under face cards that are not suited, do not bet high.

  2. Step 2

Pot buyer, pot buyer is someone who slings a lot money fast, they are usually bluffing, bluffing is just what is says the buyer wants the other players to fold immediately, a good player buying the pot bets small up to the turn, once they have gotten the other players to invest a little but not a lot so they dont actually have to play the cards, this is aka intimidation.

  3. Step 3

Call the bluff, if you feel the player is bluffing call it, only one of two things will happen, the other player may try to bluff again with another high bet or raise you even more, so call bluffs cautiously, reccomended way of calling a bluff, simply call it do not raise it, if the bet is $10.00 call $10.00, do not raise to $20.00, let them raise it again.

  4. Step 4

Raising, raising is traditionally done by calling the amount and raising the same amount, meaning someone bets $10.00, when raising you call the $10.00 and raise it another $10.00, in which makes your raise a total of a bet $20.00 or more.

  5. Step 5

Agressive pot buying, this should be done extremely agressive, meaning before you even see the flop raise the pot, instead of posting or calling the blind you raise it HIGH, if the blind is $10.00 bet $500.00 instantly, this means either you have great potential or you want the other players to believe you do, the only calling you will get is from another with a good hand or someone who is calling your bluff.

  6. Step 6

Body language, this is what players do when they are dealt a good hand or a bad one, thier eyes may diolate to a good one or eye brows frown to a bad one, keep an eye on how people react to thier hands and this will tell you high or low.

  7. Step 7

Betting statistically, this is a bet with high hopes you will get your card, you are dealt two aces (AA) in the hole (in your hand) which is a pair and you are wanting to build the pot with hopes of another ace or two giving you trips or quads (three of a kind/ four of a kind), aces (AA) are not required to bet this way deuces (22) will work the same as the aces the aces are just the higher pair.

  8. Step 8

Building the pot, do not wait till the river to place a bet if you have a good hand, place a small bet to slowly use the flop/ turn/ river to build your status so if you do win as you are hoping the hand gets a good amount out of the bet, wait to the river and your bet is needed to be high to even be worth a bet.

  9. Step 9

Fake a bluff, this is kind of easy to do but has to be done with a method, bluff a few times and make a bet on nothing at all, bluff high though, then when you are dealt a good hand you want others to believe you are betting a bluff again and they are almost certain to call it, PAYDAY.

  10. Step 10

Sincere betting is always done by somoene who does not bet with out a good hand, when these people bet they do it on thier hand no matter what, when they bet look out, they have a good hand, they honostly do not know how to manipulate or play any mind game for that matter, so when they bet they have something, you would almost have to stack the deck to get anything out of them.

  11. Step 11

Playing at bigger tables with 7-10 players is reccomended, this way the blinds only have to be posted before cards are dealt every 8 hands, 3-4 players and each player has more invested with blinds than they win in the end, blinds have to be posted before cards are dealt.

  12. Step 12

Invested players do not want to quit, once they have all thier chips in the pot they want to play, so, when bluffing it is almost best to keep the bet small, players will not fold when they have a lot invested, they would rather lose a losing hand than fold and reallize they had the winning hand, so if you want to play a good hand to the max get the other players invested, pretend a bluff (small betting) and then hit them hard at the river.

  13. Step 13

Pot buyers are the very best to bust with a good hand, and they are usually amatuers, they like the idea of slinging money, let them bluff you a little bit, let them fluff at least 3-5 hands and fold as if you have nothing, keep playing like this and they will eventually ride thier luck with (all in) when they go all in if you have a good hand call it, chances are you will break them completely.

  14. Step 14

Play amatuers for money, they love slinging money around like millionaires, it makes them feel good and they usually play high stakes on two pair even if it is a low two pair (easily beaten) and simply and gladly take thier cash, however a good player especailly experienced plays well, watch how you play, play amatuers for money/ professionals for knowledge.

  15. Step 15

Learning a new players is really easy to do, when a player bets as long as it isnt really high and you can still play a good game call thier bet even if you do lose, so you can see what kind of cards they are willing to bet on, then ride them all the way to taking everything they have.

  16. Step 16

Player statistics change whenever any players gets up or leaves, when players sit down or get up it changes what cards you would get.

example, you have a player on each side you, the one on the right gets up and leaves, now you will get the cards they would have gotten, the players to left of you gets the ones you would have gotten, this changes the game each time somene gets up or sits down no matter where they sit, and can change your luck for the better or woarse.

another rule of thumb, cut the cards often, this keep the cards off the bottom and circulating, if your luck is rediculous, ask to change decks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Poker in a nut shell, play and bet mainly face cards/ high cards/ high suited cards/ and without a doubt a pair in the hole.
  • Even a professional loses, poker is the luck of the cards/ seat/ skill and the player
  • When playing poker, prepare yourself to lose, no poker players walks from ever hand with a good winning hand every single time unless they are cheating, or EXTREMELY lucky.
  • Make sure and be aware of your cards always, i folded an ace (A) high heart flush, (very good hand) and had no idea i even had it for some reason i was looking for three aces (AAA) already having two in the hole which is excellent and did not even reallize i had a flush in my hands and folded it losing everything at the river, the pot was worth close to $20,000.00 in play money, i still kick myself today for that.
