First thing you need to do is memorize all the keys on the keyboard. This can be daunting (first hand experience says after typing fsfs and asas and hundred times, it gets old)but you will get past that stage. There are numerous ways to do this. Mavis Beacon has a few learn to type programs. Many website have fun typing games that teach you to type http://sense-lang.org/typing/, http://www.powertyping.com/ are a few. Some of them teach you with games if that is more effective for you.

Set little goals for yourself. Maybe you're starting at 22 words per minute and you make a goal of 35 within a week. Over the next week you have another goal of 50. Set a realistic goal that gets you motivated, but you can reach.

Practice typing for about 20-30 minutes at a time. Don't practice typing for too long at one time. Take breaks or you will get fatigue and frustration.

Be proud of yourself when you do progress.
