Some of the most interesting and beautiful nature photographs include rain water droplets. But what if it hasn't just rained? You can still take these types of pictures with your digital camera if you simply carry along a small spray bottle.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A digital camera
  • A spray bottle
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Find a small plastic spray bottle. Reuse an old one or buy an inexpensive spray bottle (often found in the health and beauty department).

  2. Step 2

Fill the spray bottle with water. Be careful not to use extremely cold water since some plants may not like it.

  3. Step 3

Find a suitable subject that would benefit from having small water droplets sprayed on it. Good subjects include flowers, leaves, or even grass.

  4. Step 4
    Water Droplets on a Leaf

Carefully spray the subject with a fine mist of water. Don't be afraid to experiment. The more you spray, the bigger the droplets could become.

  5. Step 5
    Water Droplets on Grass

After you get a good display of simulated rain water droplets on your subject, you are ready to take a picture with your digital camera.

Tips & Warnings
  • When taking pictures of water droplets, try to use a macro lens or set your digital camera in macro mode to achieve the best results
  • Try to be creative with available sunlight when shooting water droplets by changing the angle you are pointing your digital camera at the subject. This could create sunlight reflections, sparkles, or sunbursts and you also might be able to capture more interesting shadows.
