Make A Great Vegetarian Stir-Fry

If you or someone you know is a vegetarian and is tired of just eating boring food, than this is a great recipe for you. It is pretty easy to create, with just a ingredients and sauces. It goes great with a glass of red wine. This should serve 2-3 people.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red Pepper
  • Green Pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Onion
  • Cucumber
  • Sesame Sauce or Peanut Sauce
  • Nutmeg
  • Teriyaki or Soy Sauce
  • Garlic
  • Curry Powder
  • Black Pepper
  • Tofu (optional)
  1. Step 1

First off, you want to start to dice all of the main vegetable ingredients on a cutting board. Than you need to dice the garlic and throw it in there as well. Make sure you don't cut the vegetables too small, or the whole concept of the stir-fry is sort of ruined. You want to pull out a deep frying pan or a wok and line the bottom with the peanut or sesame sauce, depending on what sort of flavor you want. Next you want to take all of the vegetables and put them into the wok. If you want to add tofu, make sure you cut it down to the size you want and you soaked all of the water out of it.

  2. Step 2

Once you have the oil and the vegetables in the wok, turn the burner up to high and continuously stir so nothing is getting burned at the bottom. While this is going on, you are going to want to start sprinkling the spices on the veggies as you go along.

  3. Step 3

Once you have sprinkled the spices on all of the veggies and you can smell the various spices from the pan, you are going to push all of the veggies to the sides of the pan so you have an empty hole on the middle. Once that is done, you are going to take either the soy or the teriyaki sauce and pour it into the middle, until you have covered the entire middle section of the pan. After this, you are going to take you spoon and start spooning the veggies into the soy/teriyaki sauce in a circular motion.

  4. Step 4

Now that all of the ingredients are in, you are just going to keep stirring and moving around the veggies until they are nicely browned and ready for eating. If you used tofu, you want to pay close attention to that to make sure it didn't burn, as tofu can be very spastic sometimes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use different vegetables to get different tastes. Try eggplant, apples, potatoes and other various veggies.
  • Try using other spices to compliment the veggies such as chili powder, cinnamon and five spice.
  • The reason I love the recipe so much is its versatility, you can put anything in it to make it a whole new meal.
  • Make sure you keep stirring, because stuff can easily burn on the bottom.
  • Be careful what color curry you use, different colors represent different hotness levels. I use yellow curry powder, which is an extremely mild one. If you see green and red, they are not so mild.
