Things You'll Need:
- 4 eggs
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. melted butter, cooled
- 1 c. buttermilk
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- enough flour to enable you to handle the dough
- large mixing bowl
- measuring cups and spoons
- cookie cutters
- frosting
- sprinkles
-
Step 1
Cream together the eggs, sugar and butter. You can use a mixer for the beginning but when you add the flour, you will need to switch to a stong, wooden spoon.
-
Step 2
Add the buttermilk, salt and soda. Begin adding flour a cup at a time and stirring. Continue adding the flour until it is quite difficult to stir and it is no longer too sticky to handle.
-
Step 3
Loosely cover the bowl with a clean dishtowel and chill overnight.
-
Step 4
Cover a large counter or other working surface with flour and take a section of the dough out of the bowl. Turn it on the flour until it is the right consistency to roll and roll it out. Cut out the cookies using the cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheets and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, depending on the oven. When the cookies are done, they will be starting to brown on the bottom and will be white on top and puffy.
-
Step 5
Place cookies on a cooling rack or paper bags to cool. When they are cooled, frost and decorate.
-
Step 6
For the frosting, take half a stick of soft butter, add a teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 cup of milk. Begin mixing and add as much powdered sugar as it takes to get it to the consistency that you want it at.

on 12/19/2008 It would be a great help if you could figure out the exact amount of flour to add, I made a batch and obviously I added way too much flour because its all you can taste.
