Things You'll Need:
- Website
- Internet
- Word processing program
- Keyword research tool
-
Step 1
Research keywords and keyword phrases that coincide with the topic or subject of your website or business. Using a tool such as Wordtracker, find keywords with high search volume and low competition. Check the competition by searching for that specific term on Google or other major search engines. Long-tail (or multi-word) keywords are usually best.
-
Step 2
Open a word processing file and begin to write an article having to do with one of your chosen keywords. Use the keyword phrase in the title, in the first paragraph, and in any sub-headings you may use. Aim for a keyword density percentage between two and five percent. The article should be between three-hundred and six-hundred words for maximum effect.
-
Step 3
Edit your article for correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as tightening up the information and eliminating fluff. Search engines and potential customers and clients do not want fluff, they want topical information.
-
Step 4
Submit your article to the top article directories such as EzineArticles and SearchWarp. Advertising your website for free with article distribution is the hottest method of attracting targeted traffic to your website.
