Plan A Valentine's Day Date

Sometimes, it seems that finding a date for Valentine's Day may be the most daunting task of the holiday, but for many, it's just the beginning. Valentine's Day is regarded as one of the most romantic days for couples and, with the booming business of Love thriving, the importance on wallet size seems to have also increased as well. As nerve-wracking as it may seem, the preparation for Valentine's Day is extremely important.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • phone numbers of places you plan to visit
  • phone to call various businesses
  1. Step 1

Consider the person you're planning to have this date with. Different people prefer different kinds of dates.
A really romantic champagne-and-valet-service kind of lover would be more suited to a quiet dinner for two more so than a snowboarder/rock climbing adventurist. Consider the dining options as well. It would be terrible to have complications on your date because you didn't think ahead and make dinner reservations for after your oh-so-romantic seaside stroll.

  2. Step 2

Try to think outside of the box. Instead of the traditional fancy dinner and candles, try doing something neither of you have done before such as an indoor picnic or a mini-golf date. Try to avoid generic I-put-as-little-thought-into-this-I-could-date such as a movie for Valentine's Day. (Movies are also terrible ideas because you they don't allow you to talk and get to know each other while watching a movie. Also, it's really hard to recover from a bad movie on a date.)

  3. Step 3

If you're dining out, remember to not only have dinner reservations, but also to bring a little extra cash, just in case. If you finish things up earlier than expected, offer to take her out for a cup of coffee at a cafe. If a cab is needed, make sure you have enough. Also, watch how you treat others. A lot of times, how you tip a server says something about you to your date.

  4. Step 4

Don't put nearly as much stock into impressing your date as much as just showing them how much you care about them on this special day. You may not need to order a $20 bouquet of flowers, you could just send them a single red rose. Simpler CAN be more romantic. If your date is the one for you, they wouldn't care about the price of the bouquet nearly as much as getting to spend the day with you.

  5. Step 5

Tell your date your plans way ahead of time so that they may have ample time to prepare and will know what to bring. Although you may want to keep things a "surprise" it really helps to at least tell your date the proper attire and things to bring. (Warn them against heels if you're going to be doing a lot of walking, for instance.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to be accommodating to your date's needs.
  • Try to plan ahead to make sure that you can get reservations ahead of time to avoid complications.
  • Don't set crazy expectations for Valentine's Day. You'll mostly end up disappointing yourself and miss the point of Valentine's Day altogether.
