Things You'll Need:
- An understanding of your product or needs for the trade show.
-
Step 1
First, determine a budget. It's easy to go crazy and build an exhibit that not only over shadows your products but also breaks the bank thus making the trade show counter productive. If you finalize a budget before you go into the design phase it will be easier to choose design features that will fit your needs. Once you have the budget keep it within 10% either way...with no exceptions!
-
Step 2
If you are not familiar with the product(s) that will be on display you should be. If you are, then it makes it easier to pick colors and design features that accentuates the design instead of over shadowing it. Be familiar with the color scheme and mission goals of the company. Again, it will allow you to pick the correct colors and styling that will represent the company the best. For example, if your company is presenting a new space age technology for the automotive industry you'll likely want to go with a futuristic design over a retro design aimed at an older crowd.
-
Step 3
Once you have your color choices determined you need to determine the size of your exhibit. These are a few things to think about.
What product or service are you putting on display?
What amount of traffic will you see?
How large and/or how many products will be on display?
How many representatives will be on set at any given time?
Will you need offices or electricity to run your set?
If you have all of this information when you speak to your exhibit designer then you will have a solid foundation to determine the size of your set. -
Step 4
Finally, keep in mind that you are the one in charge and you need to build a set that works for your companies vision. Work with your set designer not for them and make sure they are open to your design input. This will help to ensure your leadership is happy with the outcome and that you have a productive trade show!
