Advertise Rental Properties for Free

Easy ways to advertise your rental property for free and get great exposure to potential tenants!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet connection and printer.
  • For Rent sign(s)
  • Valid E-mail address
  • Valid phone number
  1. Step 1

Use the Internet! There are several web sites that will allow you to post an ad for free. One of the best is www.craigslist.com. Even if you are not interested in renting your home to a person that is on public assistance, you should still place ads on public assistance web sites such as www.socialserve.com (free service). Many potential tenants search these web sites because they know the home has to be in good condition to get government funds.

  2. Step 2

If your home is located near a college campus or military base, you may be sitting on a goldmine. Ask the school and the base commanders if you can place flyers on their property. You may have to modify your lease if you accept a college student (example: lease term from August until May or lease by semester).

  3. Step 3

For Rent signs work well if they are strategically placed. First put one in the front window or front yard of your rental property. Also place them in high traffic areas like major intersections and near public transportation stations. If you make your own signs with poster board, laminate them in case of rain or snow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your ads include your contact information, picture(s), the amount of the deposit and rent.
