One of the worst things you can do is show up to a party on an empty stomach. This will only cause you to gorge on fattening goodies and treats. Be sure to eat a healthy snack or light meal before heading out for the evening. This way you won't overindulge at the buffet.

Once in front of the buffet or food table make smart choices. Don't load up your plate with fattening chips, dips, and cheesy delectables. Instead opt for vegetables and keep the meats and cheeses to a minimum.

Alcohol can be the worst calorie offender with some drinks packing a whooping 300 calories....this can really add up! Combat this by drinking a glass of water between drinks. You'll end up drinking a lot less and feel better in the morning. If you're going enjoy a libation stick with champagne, wine, or light beer.
