There are so many great ways to decorate a fun Christmas tree for your little boy's room. He will love helping you pick out the perfect ornaments and decorating his own tree.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There are many ways you could decorate a great tree for your little guy's room. Most likely, you will have a traditional tree in your family room. This project gives you a chance to do something fun and personal for your son. Think about his interests and use those to guide you. You would be surprised how many different types of ornaments are out there.

  2. Step 2

Sports themed trees are a huge hit with little boys. If they have a favorite team, choose that color scheme for the balls and tree skirt. If you can't find ornament with your favorite sports team on it, look for other items that can be used as ornaments. You could use key chains or use team stickers to make ornaments. Use a ball cap as a tree topper.

  3. Step 3

If your son is more into a particular type of sport rather than a particular team, use that as inspiration. Hobby Lobby has a great selection of ornaments for soccer, football, golf, and baseball. However, try to use some real things to supplement. For instance, for a golf tree, make ornaments out of golf tees.

  4. Step 4

If your son is interested in hunting or fishing, try a camouflage tree. Make a tree skirt out of camouflage fabric and use different colored green balls. Again, Hobby Lobby or Michael's has themed ornaments that will work great on this type of tree. Also, try searching the sporting goods department for small items that can be used on the tree.

  5. Step 5

My son happens to be completely in to Star Wars right now. I used this to decorate his tree. We used many of the toys he already had as ornaments. Also, we used a lot of blue and silver to go with our space type theme. While we did not find any Christmas ornaments for Star Wars, we did find a lot of star ornaments that worked well.

  6. Step 6

The years that my son was totally crazy for Thomas, we did a choo choo tree. We used tracks he already had to build a train around the base of his tree and we used his toys as ornaments. I do suggest having him use the trains he doesn't play with as much. We happened to have many accessories that worked well on the tree. I found wooden train whistles that we hung with red ribbon. The tree turned out so cute and he loved it.

  7. Step 7

Creating this tree will be a great experience for you and your child. Be creative and listen to your son's ideas. Don't just cruise the ornament aisle when putting together your tree. Look for items that can be used in different ways. Also, look around your home for decorations. This will be a tradition that you and your son can share for many years to come.
