Things You'll Need:
- staples gun
- rubber gaskets
- screwdriver
- tools that come with your set tiki set up
-
Step 1
Thatches make any building look rustic and homey. The first thing you want to do is research the kind of thatch you want to use. The most inexpensive and traditional material is palm. It looks great and doesn't cost all that much.
-
Step 2
Next, determine how much thatch you will need. Tiki bars are all shapes and sizes and luckily thatch can be purchased in various sizes as well. Remember that it's better to get a bit more than to fall short on material.
-
Step 3
Now for the attaching! Depending on the type of material your tiki bar is, you can either staple the the thatch directly to the roof OR you can use chicken wire or a piece of wood that will be screwed on top of the thatch and into your tiki roof. Roofs made of plywood can have the thatch stapled into it. Otherwise you need to have some sort of support for your thatch.
-
Step 4
Now that you've figured out how much thatch you need, and the material your tiki bar is, you're ready to attach your finishing touches and enjoy a fun addition to your home!
