This recipe was my grandpa's. He loved to make pancakes and waffles. He came up with this recipe by himself and was very pleased to share it with me. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbls shortening
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking power
  • 1 Tbls sugar
  • optional - splash of apple cider vinegar or vanilla or almond extract
  1. Step 1

    Beat eggs thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

    Mix eggs with milk.

  3. Step 3

Combine flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and shortening. Add dry mixture with milk and egg mixture.

  4. Step 4

Add dry mixture with milk and egg mixture. For a buttermilk flavor add a splash of apple cider vinegar.

  5. Step 5

Pour into greased preheated waffle maker or on hot skillet. Skillet is ready when water dances off when lightly spritzed.

  6. Step 6

Pancake is ready to flip when most of the bubbles have popped.
    Serve with warm maple syrup.
Berries with Cool Whip make a wonderful Belgium waffle!
A splash of vanilla or almond extract add a nice change from the ordinary buttermilk flavor.
Peaches and Cool Whip is also another crowd pleaser.
