How to Knit a Scarf With Two Colors
When cold weather sets in nothing beats a warm scarf to protect you from the elements. With different outfits, different seasons and a host of reasons to wear a scarf, you can't have too many. You may want a scarf with your high school's team colors, or one with the colors of your favorite sports team. You may even just want one that reflects your mood that day. So how do you maintain a collection of multiple scarves and not spend a fortune on them? You make your own. Whether for yourself or for gifts, knitting scarves is a great way to make yourself and others happy and warm. The following instructions are for those who already know the basics of knitting.

Cast on for 22 stitches with your first color. Do a garter stitch for the first six rows.

Change your yarn to your next color and continue using the stockinette stitch. Continue this process until you have the width of the stripe you desire. Change back to your first color using the stockinette stitch and repeat this process until you are nearing the end of your scarf.

Tips & Warnings
You can get creative by adding more colors, or different widths of stripes. You can add strips of yarn to each end for fringe if desired.
Be sure to leave a few inches of yarn tail on each end of the scarf as it will make securing your end stitches easier.
