One way of keeping up with life's fast pace is to take care of business over the phone. Making one phone call after the other can be tedious and time consuming, especially when the same information has to get to two people. This feature allows three different parties in three different locations to all talk at once. Making a 3-way telephone call is the answer to that problem, but not knowing exactly how to do it can be frustrating.

Things You'll Need

  • Land line phone
  • 3-way calling capability from your phone service provider

Instructions

To make a 3-way call, you first need to know that it is one of the features you currently have in your land line phone plan. If you are not signed up for 3-way calling, you will not have the capability to use this service on your phone. Contact your telephone service provider if you are unsure.

Pick up your phone and dial * (star) 33. Dial the first number of the two people you will be calling.

Once your first participant is on the line, click the receiver once and dial the number of the second participant. When that participant is on the line, click your receive one time again and the three of you should be connected.

Tips & Warnings

  • Three-way calls can cost up to 95 cents per usage, or for a flat monthly fee you can make unlimited 3-way calls. If this is a service you need to use often, check with your telephone company to see what rates and plans are available for 3-way calling.

  • Three-way calling can only be done on a push button land line phone, not on a rotary phone. Check with your telephone company as to the specific directions for 3-way calling in your area, as they can vary by location.
