Step 1
Step one is to establish a good stance from which to throw the right cross. Weight should be on the back foot, right hand held close to the chin. The left hand should be held about eye level and approximately half an arms length away from the face. The right hand guards the jaw while the left can spar and parry. Keep shifting your weight around until it feels as if most is on the right foot. This might take awhile.

Step 2
Next step is to throw the right cross. Most of the time this punch is set up by a left jab. Practice shooting out a left jab into the bag at eye level. Pull the left fist back sharply to its former position, and in one fluid motion transfer your weight from the back foot to the front. This shifts your power and delivers a punch with much more energy than just throwing the punch quickly. Also keep the wrist locked and tense. If you leave your wrist limp chances are you will injure it when the punch lands.

Step 3
The next move is to fluidly transfer weight back to the rear foot while bringing the right fist back to the chin to protect it. It is important to do this in order to block any counterpunches your opponent might throw.

Step 4
Step four is to re-establish your original stance, left hand up and out, right near the chin. When this is done repeat the punches, except this time throw a left jab, right cross and then another left jab. This is called the "1-2-3." Left, right, left.

Step 5
The final step is to perfect your right cross. Practice shooting it out with as much speed and momentum as you can muster. But always remember to bring your fists back to their original positions. In boxing, it is always better to give than to receive.
