A Realtor is a real estate agent who belongs to the National Association of Realtors. In order to become a Realtor, one must first become a real estate agent. The state of Indiana has several requirements that must be met prior to obtaining a real estate license. As long as a person meets those requirements and has the drive and energy to complete the necessary work, becoming a Realtor in Indiana is a goal that can be completed.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Meet all the requirements. In the state of Indiana, one must be at least 18 years old and have no criminal convictions that would directly impact their work as a real estate agent.

  2. Step 2

Attend 54 hours of an approved class program. Depending on the amount of sessions per week, this could take one to three months. As an alternative, they will accept eight credit hours earned for taking real estate classes at an accredited university or college.

  3. Step 3

Sign up to take the Indiana state examination after passing the program. You can register at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency website.

  4. Step 4

Send in an application for a license within 120 days of passing the state exam. The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency handles this also.

  5. Step 5

Receive the license and go to the National Association of Realtors website to sign up as a Realtor.
