Read, read, read! Finding new products to sell for your business is often a matter of reading the right publications. Read any publication that caters to businesspeople, especially taking note of the classified ads section where business opportunities are offered. Read trade publications, which usually showcase the hot up-and-coming products in that particular industry. Read the classified ads in newspapers that cater to businesspeople--look for any type of offer to distribute or sell products or services. All kinds of trade publications can be found for free at your local library. Also read entrepreneurial-based magazines such as Success Magazine and Entrepreneur Magazine.

Visit any trade shows in your area. Trade shows are an excellent place to scout out new products and services that may not even be on the market yet. You could possibly land a deal to be an exclusive distributor of a product for your region or territory--you never know until you step out and give it a shot. Get some business cards made up and hit the trade shows...and expect for good things to happen.

Be willing to "pick the brains" of the industry leaders at the trade shows. Ask them what direction they believe the market is heading, and what they see on the horizon. Ask them about any new trends they may see developing. This will give you a good opportunity to network as well.

Consider importing a product from overseas to sell in the U.S. There is a popular publication called Made In Europe that highlights several products that are manufactured in Europe that have the potential to be sold here in the U.S. Publications such as these are an invaluable resource for product ideas.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure to do thorough research on your target market before committing to sell a product to that market. It's painful to try and sell a product that nobody wants.
