Things You'll Need:
- A computer
- A planned vacation!
-
Step 1
Do some research. Aruba's hotels are split into two sections: the high-rise section and the low-rise section. Decide what section you will book your stay in. It all depends on what type of vacation you are looking for!
-
Step 2
High-Rise: The section known as the "high-rise" section in Aruba is made up of high-rise hotels (think big names like the Radisson, Hyatt). Many of these have their own casinos and upwards of 700 hotel rooms. It is also situated along the main strip of restaurants and shops and caters to a hopping night life. This is a popular section, and there is much to do - definitely the section to choose if you like the night life!
-
Step 3
Low-Rise: This section is situated on Eagle Beach with "low-rise" hotels. They typically do not have their own casinos, and offer a more subdued setting. Many of these hotels are privately owned, smaller hotels with a fraction of the rooms of a high-rise hotel. This area is quieter and more couple-friendly.
-
Step 4
Surf the net -
Wherever you choose to stay, there is much information online regarding just about every hotel/condo location in Aruba. Some great resources are expedia.com and priceline.com and other vacation package websites. These are especially great to check out, rather than just reading a tour book about the area, because they offer recent, honest ratings from real guests that can give you a realistic idea about what you are getting for your money. -
Step 5
Keep in mind that Aruba is only about 20 miles long. No matter where you stay, you can get the best of both worlds. In addition, the local bus line is inexpensive and can get you from either section of the island and transport you to the grocery stores and downtown shopping area, as well as to the other parts of the island. It is very easy to settle into the smaller, low rise section but visit the casinos at night by rental car or bus line.
