Working with artificial flowers is becoming increasingly popular. The small-time crafter can run a successful floral business from her home without having to pay for storage and maintenance of live flowers. More companies are turning to the purchase of artificial floral arrangements over live because of the ease of upkeep. Brides are requesting bouquets of artificial flowers because the price is right, they are able to pick out whatever flower they want regardless of the time of year, and they will have a memorable keepsake for decorating their new home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the types of flowers you will need. Do you have a specific arrangement that you are going to make? How many of each type of flower will you purchase? This will help you purchase only the flowers you need in the amount you will use.

  2. Step 2

Purchase flowers in person whenever possible. Many states have stores such as the Flower Factory that specialize in selling artificial flowers wholesale. You should actually see the flower to make sure it is what you are looking for. Not all artificial flowers are the same. Some look artificial with no veining on the leaves and artificial-looking, plastic parts. Buy wholesale flowers that look like the real thing, with silk leaves that are just as delicate as the real thing.

  3. Step 3

Purchase flowers online from a reputable flower wholesaler if you do not have a local wholesaler. Online flower wholesalers will require that you provide them with a tax ID or business license they ship to you. They may have a minimum order amount.

  4. Step 4

Inspect the flowers when you receive them. If they are not something that you can work with, return them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Artificial flowers should look so much like the real thing that you have to touch them to tell they are fake. Spray a little scent on your artificial flowers to make them feel a little more lifelike.
