1
If your pubes are longer than 1/4 inch, use scissors or electric hair clipper to cut the hair short as possible without cutting your skin or causing other injuries to yourself. If you use hair clippers, applying baby powder helps the process by letting the clippers glide along your skin, especially if you're perspiring or in a humid area.

Get into the shower and wash your hair and upper body allowing ample time for warm water to soften your pubic hair. Apply shaving cream/gel to one side of your pubic region and shave with short strokes and rinse the razor often. Use a mirror to shave the lower areas of your privates or as low as you need to go between your legs (i.e. anus, taint, etc.) Repeat on the other side of your pubic region.

After your shower and shave ends, dry completely with new clean towel so as to avoid any germs/bacteria/fungus that might be brewing on an old/used towel. Apply aftershave gel/lotion to your pubes and put on new/clean underwear.

Tips & Warnings
If you have a mirror with a kickstand type of backing it will help in the shower.
You may want to use a chair or foot stool to help you while shaving the lower parts of the pubic region.
If you can stand the sting, using the hand cleaners that contain alcohol are great to use as aftershave as the alcohol kills the bacteria and the lotion part of the product softens the skin. (Do not use on the clittoris or within the vaginal lips!)
Avoid running the razor on the same area more than 2 times as this may result in razor burns/rashes, in-grown hairs, and pimples.
If you are shaving in preparation for laser hair removal, be sure to shave a day before your laser treatment because if you use numbing cream it will sting the freshly shaved area and may cause inflammation or rashes. For most laser hair removal treatments, the area being treated, with the exception of numbing cream, needs to be clean without any lotions, fragrances, makeup, etc.

This is tricky business, you don't want to get your *&&^ stuck in the razor blades. I'd stick with the clippers myself. Or have my man do it! lol -
