How to Draw a Fantasy Warlock

Warlocks are wielders of vast and evil magical powers. They can ensnare you with their spells. They also often consult the council of long dead spirits and demons. Warlocks appear in myths and legends, and they also appear in modern fantasy works. Warlocks are often portrayed as vile sorcerers bent on acquiring more dark power. However, in more modern works, there is much more gray area. Look on the fun side. Create your own sinister warlock.

Instructions

1. 

   Begin with the basic frame. Draw a long oval for the head and a cylinder for the neck. Draw a long half oval for the chest. Inside the head, draw a cross or "t" shape to mark where the eyes, nose and mouth will go.

2. Create the demon on the Warlock's shoulder. Draw the head with a small circle. Add the arms and legs with thin ovals. Add wings with triangular shapes. Create the tail with a small curly cue shape.

3. 

   Add in the guidelines for the facial details. Add ovals for eyes, a bent line for the nose and a straight line for the mouth. Add eyebrows with small curved lines above the eyes. Create ears on the warlock with small circles on the side of the head. Make a chin with a rectangle coming out of the bottom of the face. Draw the clothing with a parallel cylinder around the neck coming down in a "V."

4. Create horns on the demon with small bent angles on top of the demon's head. Add eyes and a nose in the same manner as above. Create the mouth with a wide, curved rectangular shape.

5. 

   Refine the guideline details on the face. Add pupils in the Warlock's eyes with small circle. Add lips with curved lines above and below the mouth guideline. Create the threads on the Warlock's neck wear with some small circles and diagonal lines running across the open section of the "V." Create the goatee with a small upside down flame shape.

6. 

   Draw the final details on the form. Add tattoos on the head with different geometric shapes. Create some wrinkles on the face with jagged lines around the eyes, nose and mouth. Add jagged lines to the goatee. Create shoulder pads with oval shapes on each shoulder. Add irises to the eyes with circles around the pupils. Create eyebrow and earrings with small circle shapes jutting from the flesh.

7. Draw the toothy grin of the demon by drawing sharp angled lines around the demon's mouth. Add lines to the demon's wings starting from the center of the wing and moving out. Erase all of the guidelines.

8. 

   Add shadows and depth to the drawing. Darken under the chin, around the eyes and the base of the neck. Add shadows under the nose, the demon's head and under the demons hands and feet. Add small pencil strokes of varying intensity on the Warlock's beard. There you have it! You now have your very own twisted Warlock with his demonic familiar. Hang the picture on your wall or create your own hero to vanquish this slimy character.
