Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet and computer
  • Local places that host free poker tournaments or
  • group of friends
  1. Step 1

Play poker online for no charge on a free Website. Try Poker Stars' Website, listed in the Resources section. Poker Stars hosts online tournaments at all times of the day as well as scheduled tournaments and regular games. There is never a charge to play. Your free chips are replenished anytime you run out.

  2. Step 2

Play in a free tournament hosted by a local bar or tavern. World Tavern Poker, listed in the Resources section, has set up an agreement with bars across the country to offer free local tournaments that lead to prizes and national championships. Winners of the national championships actually receive a buy-in to the World Series of Poker. There is never a charge to play in these local tournaments.

  3. Step 3

Get together with a group of friends and play. Ask for a set of poker chips for Christmas or your birthday. Use the poker chips instead of money. You can even set up your own tournaments.

  4. Step 4

Get a free buy-in to a tournament that would have cost money. For example, a buy-in to the World Series of Poker is $10,000. If you win a qualifying tournament, you get a free buy in-to the event. For example, if you get to the final table at the National Championships of World Tavern Poker, you'll secure a free seat to the World Series of Poker.

  5. Step 5

Play poker with a game system. Xbox offers a World Series of Poker game that you can play. You do have to initially purchase the game and the system, but then you can play for free. If you use a friend's system, you won't have to spend any money at all.
