      St. Lucia Pewee

Head to one of the most popular birding areas in St. Lucia, Millet Bird Sanctuary Trail. The Trail, located about a half-hour drive east of Marigot Bay, is home to more than 30 species of birds including the endemic species: the St. Lucia Black Finch, the St. Lucia Parrot, the St. Lucia Warbler and the St. Lucia Pewee. Try to visit early in the morning for best viewing opportunities. The complete trail is about a two-hour walk and just under two miles. Through conservation efforts there are now about 800 St. Lucia Parrots located throughout the rain forests of the island. The Forestry Department has added feeding stations along the trail to entice the birds into closer range. For informative guided tours, contact the Forestry Department 24 hours in advance at (758) 451-1691.
