The traditional role of the father of the bride has consisted of giving the bride away and paying for the wedding - but his part on this special day doesn't have to end there.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tuxedos
  • Invitations
  • Thank-you Greeting Cards

Step1
Be gracious in accepting his offer to foot the bill if he makes one - this is not as much of a tradition as it used to be.
Step2
Ask him to arrange transportation for guests on the bride's side.
Step3
Invite him to attend the couple's bridal shower and bachelor party.
Step4
Request of him the great honor of escorting the bride in the ceremony and walking her down the aisle.
Step5
Reserve a place for him next to the groom's mother in the receiving line.
Step6
Delegate to him a key role at the reception - he can make a short toast or welcoming speech and stay until the end of the party to help with any final bills or make last-minute arrangements.
Step7
Grant him the father-daughter dance with the bride.

Tips & Warnings

  • Let Dad choose the perfect wardrobe for himself if you trust his sense of style, and let the groom's dad know he should do the same.
