Things You'll Need:
- Green-checked fabric
- Two small scraps of Christmas fabric
- Flat red button
- Red embroidery floss
- Embroidery needle
- Pinking shears
- Scissors
- Stuffing
- 1-inch wood star
- Gold acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Lightweight cardboard
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Disappearing ink pen
- Craft glue
- Hot glue gun
- Black fine-line permanent marker
- Jute
-
Step 1
Draw a base line of 4 inches on the lightweight cardboard. Find the center point at 2 inches. Make a point 4 1/2 inches above this point and connect the ends of the base line with this point to create a triangle tree pattern. Cut out the pattern.
-
Step 2
Place two pieces of the green checked fabric together with the wrong sides facing. Trace the Christmas tree pattern on the fabric using the disappearing ink pen. Pin the pieces together and cut out the fabric with the pinking shears.
-
Step 3
Sew a running stitch around the Christmas tree ornament. Use a 1/4-inch seam allowance and all six strands of the red embroidery floss. Stuff the tree before closing.
-
Step 4
Paint both sides of the wood heart using the gold acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry.
-
Step 5
Draw tiny stitch lines around the edges on one side of the star, using a black fine-line permanent marker.
-
Step 6
Hot glue the star to the top front of the stuffed Christmas tree ornament.
-
Step 7
Cut a 1-inch square from each of the two small scraps of Christmas fabric. Overlap and glue them to the front bottom area of the stuffed Christmas tree ornament.
-
Step 8
Hot glue the flat red button among the glued Christmas fabric squares.
-
Step 9
Cut a 5-inch length of the jute. Bring the ends together and knot them to form a hanger. Hot glue the knotted ends of the ornament hanger on the back of the stuffed Christmas tree ornament at the top.
