This guide will give you a general overview of some steps you can take when fighting acne.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

After soap and water fails, the next thing you should try is benzoyl peroxide. BP works well, and bacteria do not become resistant to it. Antibiotics have the unfortunate side effect of the bacteria building up resistance, but that doesn't happen with Benzoyl Peroxide. Try it first before stepping up to more serious treatments.

  2. Step 2

Antibiotics are the next step. You should schedule a visit with a dermatologist to determine which type of antibiotic you should use, as some people are allergic to certain families of antibiotics. A rotation of antibiotics should be used to limit resistant bacteria.

  3. Step 3

Accutane and accutane related products are probably the last step you should consider, especially if you are a female. There are intense regulations with accutane because it causes such severe birth defects. Women must sign an agreement stating that they will use two forms of birth control while using accutane.

on 12/23/2008 I used to have severe acne breakouts & after visiting to a dermatologist, she prescribed the right facial products to stop them. So instead of trying out from several products, consult your skin doctor first to give you the best diagnosis & treatment.
