Want a tree that shines like the ones you see in the fancy stores? This easy and systematic way to add lights will make your blah tree stand out!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Artificial tree
  • Christmas lights (any color or size)
  1. Step 1

Purchase an artificial tree of any size. This can work with a real tree, however a real tree offers a fire hazard and some trees are hard to light in this fashion.

Then purchase any size lights. You will need about 100 lights per foot tall of mini-lights and about 25 lights per foot for C7 lights. Example a 6 foot tree will need about 600 mini lights and 150 C7 lights.

  2. Step 2

Setup the base of the tree and pull out the first row of branches to be attached. **If your tree has branches that fold out, only unfold the bottom row.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you "fluff" the limbs on the branches by pulling them in all directions to create a realistic look.

  4. Step 4

Once the bottom row is ready, then plug your first strand of lights in and thread it along the base and then up to the first row of branches.

  5. Step 5

Start the lights from the back of first branch (does not matter which branch you start on). Pull them to the front of that branch then wrap it around one of the limbs and then pull it to the back of the next branch (does not matter which direction you go). Repeat this pattern of back to front to back of next branch and so on.

  6. Step 6

Once all of the branches on the bottom row are filled, move up to the next row and repeat steps 3-5 for each new row.

DONE! NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE A TREE THAT LOOKS LIKE A DEPARTMENT STORE LIGHTING.

Tips & Warnings
  • READ THE BOX TO SEE HOW MANY STRANDS OF LIGHTS CAN BE PLUGGED IN ONE LINE. IF YOU NEED TO START A NEW STRAND OF LIGHTS USE A CHRISTMAS TREE EXTENSION CORD. IT SHOULD HAVE THREE PLUG IN SPOTS.
