Step 1
Shop at Consignment shops. These stores usually have a lot of great quality items. You can also find name brand clothing altho it might take a little time and patience. This is a great place to shop for kids too, since they grow out of their clothes so quickly.
-
Step 2
Mix and match your sets. Instead of buying that matching suit suit, purchase separate pieces that you can interchange. A pair of black slacks can be worn numerous times with different jackets, blouses and shirts. Stay with the neutral and simple colors like brown, tan, black, navy & gray. You can add color with scarves (or ties for men) and shirts.
-
Step 3
Don't be trendy. Trends have very short lives. Basic styles and colors in clothing never go out of style. Don't be talked into buy something just because everyone else is wearing it.
-
Step 4
Avoid buying clothing that has to be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning is very expensive. Instead, purchase clothes that can be washed at home.
-
Step 5
Buy multi-purpose clothing. That little black dress can be worn at the ofifce and then to an evening party. This is less expensive than trying to have a different outfit for every occassion that might come up. A man's simple black suit serves the same purpose.
