How to Make Jewelry From Dog Collars
Fun, funky and durable jewelry can be as close as your nearest pet store when you make jewelry form dog collars. Dog collars come in a variety of styles, sizes and materials, often with rhinestones and studs, and will cost you a fraction of an equivalent piece of jewelry. Make leather bracelets and anklets. Thin, rounded leather collars make for great bracelets or anklets with no doctoring whatsoever. You can also make a bigger statement by attaching several together by securing the end of one into the belt hook of another until you have a whole ring of leather running up your arm.

Hook up a leather choker. Measure your neck with a string or tape measure and select a collar that is two inches larger than your measurement. For added pizazz, pick a collar with studs, rhinestones or hook up a single pendant or dangling earrings along the leather.

Fashion jewelry from the choke chains. Dog choke chains are great because they are durable, cheap and can be looped together to make a long and luscious statement. Use about five medium-width choke chains, looping them through the end hoops of another, and hang them gracefully around your neck. You can add pendants, feathers, clip-on earrings, buttons and other novelties to the chains with clips or wire. The look is so easy to create, you can add to, subtract from and change it daily.

Belt it up. If you are very skinny and find a collar fit for a very big dog, you automatically got yourself a fashionable, durable belt. If you need a larger size, hook one or more smaller leather collars together until they fit around your waist.

Use nylon for personalized bracelets. Get a medium-width nylon collar and some paint pens and you can wear whatever you come up with right on your wrist. You can also get a larger nylon collar to create a personalized choker. Put your own name instead of your dog's on it or people will think you just screwed up and wore the wrong accessories.
