Many people use word processors to create complex and very professional looking documents. One of the best ways that you can spice up the look and feel of a document is by adding a picture to the document to accent the text. Another way to take this a step further is to add three dimensional styling to that picture to make it really stand out on the page.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft Word 2003
  1. Step 1

Open the drawing tool. Click on "View" then click on "Toolbars." Select "Drawing" so that you can view the drawing toolbar on the command bar.

  2. Step 2

Insert or create the shape. The easiest way to do this is by using the auto shapes feature on the drawing toolbar, but you can add these effects to any picture, shape, line or object using the following steps. Click on "Auto shapes" and select "Basic Shape." Use the drawing canvas and drag the cursor across it while you hold the mouse button in to draw the shape you selected. Then release the mouse button when finished to create the shape.

  3. Step 3

Add 3D effects to the shape. Click on the object to select it. On the drawing toolbar look for the green colored, square icon to the right which is the three dimensional style button, click on this button to add 3D styling.

  4. Step 4

Choose the preferred styling. There will be a variety of different icons that display possible three-dimensional styling patterns that you can use. Click on the desired selection and Word will add that three-dimensional styling to the selected object.

Tips & Warnings
  • This feature is great for accenting images, objects, lines or shapes with a more three-dimensional feel.
  • Make sure that you create the shape within the defined print margins.
