Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Realize that many work from home job ads are scams. Be very cautious in your job search and be wary of any job that offers outrageous pay or seems too good to be true.
-
Step 2
Research every opportunity you find before applying. Search on Google.com for the company name and check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints.
-
Step 3
Visit the forums at WAHM.com. This website is a great tool for anyone who wants to work at home. The forums are a great place to search for job leads and find others with experiences and warnings. (see the Resources section below for a direct link)
-
Step 4
Avoid data entry jobs that are really jobs posting ads in forums. These jobs are often labeled as work at home data entry jobs, but ask you to spam forums with unwanted ads. This is a shady business and is not a long-term, legitimate data entry job.
-
Step 5
Consider bid sites like GetAFreelancer.com (see the Resources section below for a direct link). Some of these sites have sections for Data Entry jobs. Basically, you bid on a job with a price. If you are selected, you complete the work and get paid your bid.
-
Step 6
Search normal job sites like Monster.com. Work at home jobs are very desirable, get lots of applicants, and usually go fast - but you might be able to find something on these sites.

on 12/4/2008 Good points. I have been doing data entry at home for five years now. I have one contract with a business and make a few hundred a month. You list good warnings of not paying for work.
