This is a very easy and inexpensive remedy to remove wine (especially red) from your clothing. Don't worry... your favorite shirt isn't ruined.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dawn® Dish Detergent
  • Small Scrub brush (toothbrush)
  1. Step 1

As soon as the wine is spilled, immediately apply Dawn® Dish Detergent to the stained area. A small amount of detergent will suffice.

  2. Step 2

Use a small scrub brush and in circular motions continue to work the spot until the stain is completely gone. You may need to rinse with water and apply more dish detergent.

  3. Step 3

If you do not have a toothbrush handy I have used my fingernail to scrub the area. This worked just as good as a scrub brush. Also, if you do not have dawn available, keep the stained area wet with water until you can put the dish detergent on it.

I removed red wine from a white t-shirt by using these simple steps and there is no sign of a spill on that shirt anymore.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is important to remove the stain immediately. There is smaller chance of removing the stain if it completely dries before attempting to remove it.
  • This worked on cotton clothing. Not sure how this will work on silk or any other type of materials.
