Wear dark clothing to look skinnier in a picture.

Like most people, you probably have a horrible picture of yourself that makes you exclaim, "Do I really look like that!?!" Many people dread stepping in front of the camera because of the potentially terrible outcome that is forever frozen in time. However, there is no longer a reason to run in fear when you hear someone call out "Say cheese!" Just follow these tips and, in a flash, you will look skinnier in front of the camera. Does this Spark an idea?

Take a tip from Hollywood starlets who pose for pictures 24/7: the secret to looking skinny on camera is in the pose. Try standing at an angle to the camera, with one foot in front of the other and your front toe pointed toward the camera. This pose is instantly slimming. If your waist is a big problem area, try keeping your upper body straight and turning your lower body, at the waist, about 45 degrees, while still putting one foot in front of the other. By turning your lower body, you give your waist more definition.

If you are self conscious about your arms, then stand with your arms away from your body. For example, putting your hands on your hips prevents your arms from being pressed against your sides, which can make any flab you may have bulge out. Not flattering! Also, keeping your hands slightly away from your sides makes your torso look thinner by providing space between your arms and sides.

Taking a photo is the perfect time to practice excellent posture. Stand up straight and suck your stomach in slightly. Don't overdo it though, or it will look very unnatural and unappealing. To stand properly, imagine there is a string attached to a hook in the top of your head. Now imagine someone is pulling that string straight up. Good posture will stretch you out, making you appear taller and thinner.

To prevent that dreaded double chin, push your chin out slightly.

Wear clothes that make you look slimmer. Wearing black always helps. However, you don't have to be limited to only black; wearing any single, dark color (as opposed to lighter colors and clothes in patterns or multiple colors) will make you appear thinner. Avoid clothes that are too baggy, even if you are overweight. Clothes that are fitted, but not tight, will improve your appearance. Finally, try wearing a body-shaping garment under your clothing. It can work wonders at hiding bumps and bulges, making you look miraculously skinny in an instant.
