Naipes tarot cards are made by the Fournier Playing Cards company in Vitoria, Spain. This company was founded by Naipes Heraclio Fournier in 1868, and continues to produce a comprehensive collection of high quality tarots. All of the Naipes tarot sets include an instruction booklet in several languages, 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards. Their classic collection of tarot sets includes a Spanish tarot, an Egyptian tarot, a Great Esoteric tarot, a beginner's tarot and seven other classic sets. Fournier also produces a line of special tarot sets with illustrations by Luis Royo.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Naipes tarot deck with guidebook
  • Clean cloth or scarf
  • Optional candle or crystal
  1. Step 1

Choose a Naipes tarot deck that appeals to you. You may want to choose the beginner's deck if you are new to the tarot. You will need a scarf or a cloth to lay the cards on. This will protect the cards from any negative energy that may be on the table's surface, as well as keep them clean. You may burn a candle or place a favorite crystal on the table.

  2. Step 2

Before you read the Naipes tarot cards, it is important to connect with them and become familiar with each card. Spend some time studying the pictures and write down any impressions or feelings that come to mind about particular cards. Imagine meeting each of the characters in the deck and learning their stories.

  3. Step 3

Start with the 22 major arcana until you become more familiar with each one's interpretation. Think of a simple question, and keep it in mind while you shuffle the cards. Shuffle the cards until you feel energy from your hands flowing into the Naipes tarot deck. Imagine the cards pulsing with light.

  4. Step 4

Divide the deck into three piles, and then place the pile that is farthest on your right onto the pile farthest on your left. Place this combined pile on the middle pile of cards.

  5. Step 5

From the top of the pile, deal out three cards to represent the past, present and future. Consult your instruction booklet to determine the interpretation of these cards. Think of how these interpretations can apply to your question.

  6. Step 6

As you become more confident and comfortable with reading the Naipes tarot card deck, try some of the more advanced layouts listed in your instruction booklet, and add the minor arcana to the deck to add more detail to your readings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Reading the tarot takes a great deal of practice, so do not become discouraged if it takes some time to give successful readings.
  • Treat your tarot deck with respect and do not play with or force the cards.
