Book clubs are a great way to expand your knowledge and make new friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  1. Step 1

Visit the Craigslist.org directory that correlates with the city closest to you.
(If you don't have Craigslist, try a classified site that caters to your town)

  2. Step 2

Search through the "Community" section. Click on "Groups."

  3. Step 3

Search "book clubs." If you don't find any ads, create your own seeking a group. Or, start your own group!
(If Craigslist isn't available, research local publications to see if you are able to post a free classified ad, or post a flyer at the library, cafe, or church)

  4. Step 4

If all else fails, visit your local bookstore and ask a clerk if the store has any clubs or if they know of any. The clerks most likely are aware of clubs in the neighborhood. If not, find out if they will let you start one at the bookstore -- it's great business for them!

Tips & Warnings
  • Indicate what genre you'd like to read with your club in your ad.
  • If you find no ads on Craigslist, ask around -- your friends may know someone in a book club.
  • Be sure to keep up with the reading so you are able to participate in the discussion.
  • Be careful that the book club is real before you visit the home of someone you've never met. You may choose to meet in a public place if the club allows.
