How to Buy Your Husband The Best Present Ever

How to Buy Your Husband The Best Present Ever thumbnail
Christmas Present

As a kid, I always had to laugh at Christmas when my dad would open his presents from my mom. Every single year she'd give him underwear, socks, new dress shirts for work, a tie or two, and a jar of honey roasted peanuts. I swore that when I got married I'd buy my husband much better presents and for a few years, I did. As the years past and I got busy with kids, work, and life I got lazy when it came to buying gifts for the man in my life. I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only woman who has been guilty of grabbing something for my husband at the last minute, putting no thought into it whatsoever. This article will help you to change those bad habits and get your husband the best gift ever.

Start by paying close attention to things your husband says...it can be painful, I know. :) Pay attention to television shows he loves, magazines he reads, things that he lingers over at the store, his hobbies, etc. If you are in a store and he mentions that he really wants something specific, write it down later so you can remember it. When it comes time to buy a gift, go through your mental or written notes so you can start getting some ideas of what he might like.

If you still need ideas to get started, call a few of your guys friends and get their advice. Since they are his friends, the likely share the same interest as him and may be able to give you great insight into gifts that he would enjoy.

Remember, it doesn't have to be expensive, but you want it to look like you've put a lot of thought into it - which you have! For example, if your husband loves to drink beer, instead of buying him a case of whatever he usually drinks get him some really nice beer mugs and sign him up for a beer of the month club so that he'll get a different brew every month for a year. The goal is to make it special.

Gifts should be something that you wouldn't buy just any day of the year. If you tend to be a practical person and want to get him new shirts for work, instead of buying him shirts from Kohls, splurge and get him a really nice dress shirt.

If you are still at a loss for ideas, think about things that your husband has to do. Does he travel a lot for work? What could you get him that would make traveling more enjoyable? Does he have to work outdoors in the cold? Think of things that would help make him more comfortable while he's working outdoors. You know your guy better than anyone else does. Take the time to think about all the things that he enjoys to do and likes to do and you'll certainly come up with a great, one-of-a-kind present that isn't socks or underwear!

Great tips. I do have selective hearing when my husband talks sometimes(he's always talking about cars). Time to tune in more often. lol

Great ideas. I must admit, I was planning to go the "new dress pants" route this year. Time to pay a little more attention!
