Step 1
Work on a solid year of visiting your loved one. You will need lots of photos, receipts, etc to show you've been over there, as well as that you two are in-love. Phone bills, pictures, travel stamps in your passport, are all the types of proof you are going to need.
-
Step 2
You can go online to the Immigration website for the United States, and download the forms, or send away for them. You need to fill out for a K-1 Visa. It's a visa that will allow you to bring over your fiance with intents to marry within 90 days of entry.
-
Step 3
Once you receive the forms, follow the directions and send the forms to the right processing center. Once you send in the forms with the necessary information, the waiting game begins. The rest of the process will be told to you by the Immigration department.

on 12/10/2008 Send in the forms and lots of $ for processing fees, per form! My fiancee is flying over here (as I'm typing this, in fact). Our K-1 was approved two weeks ago. Finally! It's one heck of a long process. Good article.

on 12/9/2008 Very good information. We did not hire a lawyer when my fiance petitioned me. This information is really helpful to those who have no idea on how to do it.

on 12/6/2008 I am a foreigner & came over to the US thru fiancee visa. My then fiance (now my husband) hired a lawyer to do the paperwork which cost us $2000. I realized later after the whole process was done that we could have done it ourselves and save us the amount we paid. So I learned that lesson when we applied for my Adjustment of Status. We did it ourselves and we got an approval. The good thing about it is we save ourselves precious $$$.

on 12/6/2008 My brother's wife is from Nicaragua. He actually moved to Latin America during the immigration process to be with his wife and married her there. We stayed up here and helped expedite the process (long, arduous, and expensive) for him by communicating directly with USCIS, Congress and the Senate. It helped his case tremendously by being there with his spouse to prove relationship. There are more forms, paperwork, and money involved than can be mentioned here, but his living there helped out too! Good Job!
