Step 1
Choose one or two colors that complement your sense of style. Some suggestions may be..different shades of gold, or gold and maroon, or different shades of silver and white, or silver and blue. Once you have chosen your colors, stick with them strictly as this will give the WOW factor.

You may decide to choose a theme along with color. Sometimes stars works nicely. You can decorate different sizes of stars (cardboard cut-outs) with your colors by using spray paint, even glitter.

Once you have your color and theme, have fun with it, but don't overdo it. If you step outside of the boundaries of your colors, it can become too cluttered and confusing to people.

The same goes for the Christmas tree. If you stick with one or two colors, and don't put too much on the tree to overcrowd it, your tree will be much more elegant and aesthetically pleasing.

Finally, it is always very helpful to find pictures online of holiday decorations that others have done, that catch your eye. Through pictures, you can pick out decor you like, and don't like and make it your own. Plus, you get to see what it will look like before trying it yourself.
