Babysitters are sometimes hard to come by. Whether you are new in town or have lived in the same city for years, a perfect babysitter is possible, if you know where to look. Here's how to find your baby sitter!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start with the neighborhood. Ask your neighbors if their kids babysit or if they have a name of a babysitter that they could recommend. It is suggested to ask five or six people and see who is repeatedly recommended or can provide references.

  2. Step 2

If you are open to a teenager who is responsible, call the local highschool and ask if they have a job center. Here you should find local kids who have babysat and are willing to do it again!

  3. Step 3

Ask at church. This is a great resource often overlooked. See if there is a bulletin board where folks put services offered and be sure to ask at the front desk to see if they know anyone!

  4. Step 4

Call the local parenting organization chapters for recommendations. Mothers of Preschoolers, Multiple groups and other parenting groups really do have the pulse on great sitters, so just ask!

  5. Step 5

Consider asking some local youngsters. If your neighbor has a kid who might be a good choice, don't hesitate to ask. Many kids haven't discovered babysitting yet and would like to have a small, part time job.

on 4/1/2009 There are a couple other alternatives. I have had great success with tippleBox (www.tipplebox.com). You can search for sitters in your neighborhood by any criteria you need or post a job and let them find you. Best of all, it's free which is a big plus in this current economic climate
