Things You'll Need:
- 40 inches of #28-gauge silver craft wire
- 5 12-inch Chenille's
- 160 6mm faceted beads, silver washed
- 70 12mm Sunburst beads, silver washed
- Wire cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Monofilament line, 8-pound test or string
-
Step 1
Cut the chenille stem into three equal four-inch pieces. Arrange the chenille pieces crisscrossing each other in a star shape.
-
Step 2
Cut an 8-inch piece of wire. String one faceted bead on the wire. Center the faceted bead in the middle of the wire and then fold the wire around the bead. Close to the faceted bead, twist these wire halves together once. While holding both wire ends together, string on one Sunburst bead.
-
Step 3
Spread wires apart. Wrap wires around chenille pieces where the star shape crisscrosses. Secure beads to chenille by twisting wire halves together twice. Sunburst bead will lay flat against the center of the chenille star. Re-shape chenille pieces into a star shape.
-
Step 4
Spread wires apart. String one Sunburst bead on one of the wires. Also, string on faceted bead on the wire. Push beads tightly against center of the chenille star. Secure the faceted bead tightly against the Sunburst. Do this by knotting the wire end being worked with back around the faceted bead and again up through the hole in the faceted bead. Leaving a 1/4 inch tail, cut off excess wire on this wire end only. Bend the tail back against the faceted bead.
-
Step 5
Hold the remaining wire against one of the arms of the star shape. Work with both the wire and the arm as one unit while stringing beads on this arm.
-
Step 6
String in the order listed on each chenille arm. Two faceted beads, two Sunburst beads and then two faceted beads. Then place a small dab of glue on the tip of each chenille arm.
-
Step 7
String one additional faceted bead on each chenille arm tip. Rotate the faceted bead so that the glue will spread around as you are threading the bead. Wipe any excess glue away.
-
Step 8
Make a small hanging loop with the wire extending from the one arm by wrapping it around itself close to the last bead. Cut off any access wire and chenille. Use the monofilament line or string to hang the snowflake ornament.
