Hot Clam Spread Appetizer Dip
Hot Clam Spread Appetizer Dip

Hot Clam Dip is always a party favorite. Living in New England, I've acquired many favorite seafood dip and spread recipes over the years. This is one of my favorites ~ it's easy to prepare, and is great for holiday entertaining, backyard pool parties, tailgate parties or just cocooning at home!

This tasty hot clam spread can be served in a bread bowl or chafing dish. Use your imagination ~ it's easy to adapt to any party theme!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can minced clams, or fresh
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp parsley, or parsley flakes
  • 1/4 lb butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • dash of Tabasco sauce
  • Parmesean cheese, to taste
  • dash of Paprika
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs (plain is better)
  • 4 oz Cabot Vermont Cheddar Cheese, grated
  1. Step 1

Simmer minced clams, and juice with lemon juice in small pan on top of stove for 5 minutes.

  2. Step 2

In a small bowl, combine onion, garlic, parsley, butter, Oregano and Tabasco sauce. Mix with clams and lemon juice.

  3. Step 3

Add 1/2 cup of the seasoned bread crumbs. Put mixture in shallow baking dish and cover with 4 ounces of the grated cheddar cheese.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle top with additional parmesean cheese and paprika. Bake in a preheated 350 oven for approximately 20 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep warm in a chafing dish for tailgate parties or buffets
  • Serve in a hollowed-out bread bowl, using the removed bread, broken in pieces.
  • Serve with your choice of crackers.
  • Add diced pimentos for festive color, if desired.
