How to Make a Personal Countdown to Christmas Calendar With Children
Children are very excited when they realize that Christmas is coming. They will ask over and over again "How many days now?" Give them a project to do and let them count the days for themselves with this easy countdown calendar. Each child can make her own to hang in her room. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Card stock (size 8 1/2 by 11 inches)
- Calender template
- Holiday stickers
- Markers, colored pencils or crayons

Select a template in your computer printing system for the current year's December calendar. Print the calendar on a piece of card stock. Select a blank calendar for children who have learned to write.
You can also use a ruler and draw out your own calendar page. -

Encourage your child to number the days from Dec. 1 to 25 with markers or pencils.

Have him color the word December and any outline drawings the template includes.

Cut out a 4-by-5-inch piece of card stock and help the child staple or glue it to the bottom of the calendar on three sides only. This will form a small storage pocket.

Insert a sticker sheet or 24 individual stickers into the pocket. These stickers will be placed on the calendar one day at a time for the child to count out the days.

Have the child pick out a large sticker and place it on the calendar to mark the countdown date of Dec. 25.
