Step 1
Always make sure your coffee maker is sparkling clean. Use fresh, cold water. Store coffee in an airtight container in a cool place. The refrigerator would be ideal. Always use the right grind of coffee for your coffee maker for the best flavor. Measure coffee accurately. Allow 2 level measuring tablespoons for each 2/3 cup of coffee. These proportions will vary with individual taste and the coffee maker itself. Adjust to your liking. For best results, use the full capacity of your coffee maker. Never boil coffee.
-
Step 2
For Iced Coffee: Brew using 1 1/2 times the amount of coffee grounds usually used. Fill hot, ice filled tumblers with coffee, adding milk and sugar to your liking.
-
Step 3
For Demitasse: Make coffee using 3 measured tablespoons per cup of water. Serve in small cups with or without sugar. This is most commonly served black.
-
Step 4
For Cafe Au Lait: Brew coffee regular strength. Heat equal parts milk and light cream over very low heat. Beat with rotary beater till foamy. Transfer to warmed container. Pour hot coffee and hot milk together into serving cups.
-
Step 5
Swedish Egg Coffee: In a small bowl mix together, 1 slightly beaten egg (reserving shell) and 2/3 cup coffee grounds. If stronger coffee is desired use 1 cup coffee grounds. Add 1/2 cup cold water; blend well. Stir in egg shell. Add to 8 cups boiling water. Heat and stir over high heat until foam appears. Remove from heat, cover and let settle. Strain coffee through cheese cloth. Reheat and serve.
