This leads them to collect bids for their jobs. This can be a great source of extra income for your business and can also lead to future jobs from the owner if they accept your bid and you do a good job.

1
Do some research on competing businesses. To do this, you may want to have some friends call up a few of the cleaning services in the phone book to find out what they charge per hour or per job. This is valuable information when you want to place a bid because you need to bid lower than your competitors.
-
2
Decide how much you want to get per hour. If your competition is charging $30 per hour, then you must decide if $25 an hour is enough for your time and expenses. If it isn't, then you can take the risk and also bid $30 per hour, but you had better have some excellent references if you do this.

Take a walk through of the job that needs completing. Have the owner show you what she wants done in each room and take note of it so that you can figure out a price later. If you have any questions, you should ask them while you are with the owner. Don't be afraid to ask the questions. This will show the owner that you have an interest in doing a thorough job.

Download a bid worksheet from the website in the Resources section below. Fill it out with the information you collected at the walk through. Estimate how much time each task will take by looking at how long it took you to complete the task in your own home. Use your calculator to multiply the amount you want to get per hour by the total number of hours the job will take. That is your bid.
