You're about to start a race on Mario Kart on Nintendo Wii. The clock counts down, and as you begin to accelerate, another player speeds out in front of you with jet-like speed! You're left in the dust (surely starting the race in last place). Ever wondered how everyone starts faster than you do? This article will show you a quick trick so you can speed off the line and win all your Mario Kart races to come! Also, if you scroll down, you'll see that under the Resources box I've got some links to inexpensive places to buy Mario Kart for the Wii and Wii wheels!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nintendo Wii
  • Wii Wheel and Wii controller
  • Mario Kart for Nintendo Wii
  1. Step 1

Choose all of your settings for your race and get to the racing screen where all of the players are waiting for the green light to start the race.

  2. Step 2

Pay attention to the stoplight as it counts down to the time to start.

  3. Step 3

Right after the second light flashes on the stoplight, hold down the 2 button.

  4. Step 4

Continue holding down the 2 button. You'll see that once the countdown is over and the race begins, you get an extra burst of speed that will push you into first place to begin the race!

Tips & Warnings
  • To keep the lead you get at the beginning of the race, don't over-correct around turns when you use the Wii Wheel. Pretend like you're driving a real car!
  • In previous versions of Mario Kart for different systems, if you applied this technique too early you would spin out instead of getting a burst of speed. I haven't had this problem in the Nintendo Wii version. However, to be sure that that doesn't happen, make sure to press the 2 key after the second light and no sooner.
