How to Make Homemade Treats for Dogs
Dogs love treats, and a supply of healthy tidbits is useful for training your dog or rewarding it for good behavior. Commercial treats often contain ingredients that are not human quality food, and even the good treats are mass-produced and contain preservatives to make them last. Create delicious, meaty, homemade treats for your dog that are preservative-free and only contain foods that are high quality.

Perfect Meaty Dog Biscuits
-
1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease a baking sheet or pizza pan lightly using a nondairy product.
-
2
Mix the flour, baking powder and oatmeal together and add the milk and chopped bacon. Mix them together until they form a dough.
-
3
Knead the dough on a floured board and roll it out to around ¼ inch thickness. Cut the dough into the shapes you want and place them on the baking sheet.
-
4
Bake for around 20 minutes or until they are cooked through and lightly browned. After cooling, store them in an airtight container.
Freeze-Dried Liver Treats
-
1
Bring calf's liver to a boil in lightly salted water. Turn the heat down and simmer for an hour or until well-cooked. Remove from the water, rinse under clean water and let it cool.
-
2
Cut the liver into bite-sized pieces and lay them on a greased cookie tray. Place them uncovered in a deep freezer and leave for five to seven days.
-
3
Test the bites by thawing them to see if any water remains. Once the water has completely dried out, the bites can be used.
-
4
Store the treats in a plastic bag or container in the freezer until ready to use.
Vegetarian and Allergy-Free Pumpkin Pupcakes
-
1
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. A hand mixer will mix them easily, as the pumpkin is wet.
-
2
Spoon them into a mini muffin pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes.
-
3
Let them cool and keep them refrigerated for best results.
-
4
Dry them further and make them crunchy by turning down the oven temperature to 150 degrees F and leaving them in for another hour.

Tips & Warnings
Do not give a dog more than three to four liver treats per day, as liver is high in fat content and may cause stomach upset or weight gain.
