Remove Red Wine Stain From a Carpet
Remove Red Wine Stain From a Carpet

Red wine seems to gravitate towards white or light colored carpets. Follow these steps to get rid of that stain the next time you spill.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White Wine
  • Stain Remover
  1. Step 1

When you spill the red wine on the carpet reach for a bottle of white wine. You need to do this as quickly as you can, you don’t want the red wine getting deep into the fibers. Poor approximately the same amount of white wine over the spill, the white wine will neutralize the red. You will see the color of the spill start to lighten.

  2. Step 2

Next blot the liquid up with a towel. You may want to use disposable kitchen towels as they absorb liquid very well. Try not to press too hard as you don't want to push the liquid down into the carpet but rather lift our the liquid.

  3. Step 3

Once the towel is not picking up any liquid then use your normal stain removal spray to spot clean the carpet as you would any normal stain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the cheap white wine as your Neutralizer
  • Only use the white wine approach if the stain is new, dont use on old dryed in red wine stains.
