Step 1
Watch what you eat. Eating the wrong types of foods can slow down and even stop weight loss in your abdomen. Cutting back on processed foods, sugars and starches will help you get closer to your hourglass figure goal. Avoid too much salt as well, as salt makes a body retain excess fluids.
-
Step 2
Drink plenty of water. Not only does water help flush your body out, it helps stave off hunger pains top prevent overeating. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.
-
Step 3
Start sweating. To promote and maintain fat loss around your stomach and all over your body, get at least 30 to 45 minutes of cardio exercise each day. Walking, running, dancing or any exercise that gets your heart rate up are all great cardio choices.
-
Step 4
Tone your abdomen. Crunches will help target your stomach muscles, but don't neglect the sides of your waist when toning up. Side crunches will target the oblique muscles along the sides of your waist getting you closer to an hourglass figure.
-
Step 5
Build muscle. To balance your upper and lower body, lift weights and do strengthening exercises. Lunges and squats are great lower body toners and hand weights will tone not only your arms, but your shoulders, back and chest as well.

on 2/24/2009 To help you sweat in your midsection I would also suggest trying a cincher or girdle that fits around your waist. A great source would be www.hourglassangel.comThis company has cinchers that will make you sweat around your midsection. They target different areas of the body depending on what you are looking for.
